AIAri is combining its popular affiliates networking fair and lobster boil with a series of afternoon seminars organized on the theme of SURVIVING these tough times with innovative approaches and building skills.

Following the seminars, stay for the trade show and networking event featuring displays from our Corporate Affiliate members. Come and enjoy the summer afternoon on RWU’s green campus overlooking Mount Hope Bay and learn about great new products and services over beer and wine, then sit down for a lobster feast!

Afternoon Seminars:
everyoneSURVIVES except the LOBSTER


Three tracks of seminars and panel discussions will explore finance, business, and technology issues on the theme of SURVIVING to help you be more competitive, retool, and get new work in these challenging times.


All seminars will be held in the Architecture Building (SAAHP) at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. Attendance is included with your ticket to the Affiliate Fair + Lobster Boil.


1:30-2:30 Session 1 - 1.0 CEU


A1 Finance Track: Profitability in Hard Times
An exploration of cash flow, overhead costs, and determining profitability, including a panel discussion of adapting to hard economic times.


B2 Technology: Doing More with Less
Leveraging technology tools to improve productivity, including an exploration of latest products for intranets, ftp sites, and web-based management software.


C1 Materials: Contemporary Masonry Design and Details
This presentation will highlight contemporary designs and details using traditional masonry materials and will also focus on new contemporary masonry systems and technologies such as, thin brick, thin stone, channel-anchored masonry veneers, rain screen walls and adhered veneers. Project examples and projects from the 2008 IMI Golden Trowel awards will be reviewed.

D1 Tools: Let the Robots Do the Work!
Live demonstrations and explanations of why and how to use RWU’s Digital Manufacturing equipment and software. The lab is available for use by the professional community, including: 3-axis CNC Mill for large scale flatwork; a 3d-printer for rapid prototyping; a laser cutter; and a digitizer for reverse engineering real-world models to the digital realm. (One of two sessions)

B2 Technology: BIM – Is Now the Time?
It’s said that when you have the money you don’t have the time, when you have the time you don’t have the money. Participate in this honest discussion about the pros and cons of a technology transition in a challenging business climate with fellow professionals who have been through it.
